Ubisoft has confirmed that Far Cry 3’s multiplayer mode on the PC wouldn’t feature dedicated servers, even if many computer owners have asked for such a feature.

Far Cry 3 is out at the end of the month and, besides featuring a complex single-player campaign, not to mention a great cooperative one, the game also has an intense multiplayer mode that was recently showcased in a special video.

Now, Ubisoft has confirmed on its forums that Far Cry 3’s multiplayer wouldn’t have dedicated servers on the PC.

As you can imagine, this got many PC owners mad, as they started accusing the company of trying to kill the community.

“Of course we are not trying to kill the PC community. We have simply decided on a different way of handling multiplayer. We weighed the different options against each other to see what worked best, and what we came up with worked very well even without DS's [dedicated servers].”

Do you think the dedicated multiplayer servers are very important for a game or do you believe Far Cry 3’s online mode can make do without them on the PC?
