Far Cry 3 has shipped over 4.5 million units into retail stores, according to Ubisoft, and the company's CEO also revealed that fans won't have to wait a long time before getting a new Far Cry game.

Ubisoft's end of 2012 has been filled with two big releases, in the form of Assassin's Creed 3 and the very surprising Far Cry 3.

According to the company's latest financial earnings report, Far Cry 3 is a runaway success, performing way ahead of expectations and shipping over 4.5 million units into retail stores.

What's more, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot also took the chance to confirm that the four-year gap between Far Cry 2 and Far Cry 3 won't be repeated.

According to CVG, he teased that players "will certainly not be waiting so long for the next Far Cry game," effectively confirming that a Far Cry 4 is already in development and should be released in less than 4 years.
