Electronic Arts confirms that it's going to stop supporting four of its free-to-play titles in three months, with FIFA World, Need for Speed World, Battlefield Heroes, and Battlefield Play4Free among the games affected by the decision.

EA has done quite a few experiments in recent years when it comes to possible ideas about where gaming is going. One key area of interest was the free-to-play market, where the publisher has released quite a few various projects.

Unfortunately, while some games such as Star Wars: The Old Republic are still going strong, EA now confirms on its blog that it's soon going to stop supporting and take offline four other free-to-play titles.

More specifically, FIFA World, Need for Speed World, Battlefield Heroes, and Battlefield Play4Free are soon going offline permanently. The official timeline is that the titles will remain operational for another 90 days, aka until around July 15.

Afterwards, players will no longer be able to enter the online experiences. EA doesn't mention anything about any refunds or compensation schemes for active players who've spent real-world money inside the aforementioned titles, so don't hold your breath.

The company does pledge to continue exploring the free-to-play market, but right now, it doesn’t have anything to announce.
