Video game developer and publisher Codemasters has announced that it would be introducing a new game mode to its upcoming F1 2012 simulation title, which will be called Champions Mode and which will allow players to take on all the six World Champions who are now part of the competition.

The six drivers are: Kimi Räikkönen, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso and, finally, Michael Schumacher.

Each of the champions will have his special race scenario, playing up his own strengths and gamers will need to modify their own approach in order to outperform them.

Codemasters offered information on the Kimi Räikkönen challenge, stating that it takes place at the Spa track and that, “The player has just pitted and is on new tyres while the rest of the pack is on worn rubber with three laps to go until the end of the race. In order to complete the scenario the player has to race through the pack and overtake Kimi before the end of the race.”

F1 2012 is set to launch during September on home consoles and the PC.
