Paradox Development Studios has just announced that the new expansion for Europa Universalis IV is called El Dorado and the company is already offering a lot of videos taken from the title to all fans who are interested in taking a look at the core mechanics.

The footage features the beta version of the new content, which means that there are some elements that might suffer modifications before the full launch takes place at some point in February.

Gamers can take a look at the video and then the studio is encouraging them to offer an opinion on the official forums, so that the end product delivers the best possible quality.

El Dorado, as the name implies, concentrates on the civilizations of Central America, with a focus on the Aztecs, the Mayans, and their religion beliefs.

A new Doom mechanic affects them, which requires sacrifices to be made in order to keep the faction intact, and reforms will be needed to eliminate its negative effects and to Westernize when a colonial power comes near.

There are also changes made to how exploration works, with more automation for players who are interested in accessing new lands, and Paradox says that more core mechanics have been tweaked.

A full patch for the core Europa Universalis IV package will also be launched in February.
