The team at the Paradox Development Studio is launching a new patch for Europa Universalis IV, labeled 1.7, which is designed to mark another milestone in the life of the grand strategy game and accompany the arrival of the Res Publica mini-expansion.

The list of bugs that are eliminated and mechanics that now get a better balance is huge and can be seen on the official forums of the title. Everything from governments to user interface, Artificial Intelligence and modding has been tweaked.

Patch 1.7 will be the core version of Europa Universalis IV for a while, but the company will deliver smaller fixes if any huge bug is reported by the community.

The Res Publica mini-expansion is set to introduce an entirely new government type for gamers to explore, the Elective Monarchy, while also making the Dutch gameplay experience unique, with a constant struggle between Orangists and Statists.

Europa Universalis IV is a title that allows gamers to pick any nation in the world and try to guide it towards success in the Middle Ages, and it has already received two core expansions.

New plans about the title will probably be revealed before the end of the year, and its cousin, Crusader Kings II, will get a new expansion at the upcoming Gamescom 2014 event.
