Tim Sweeney, one of the leaders of Epic Games, says that it is working on an unannounced Unreal Engine 4 title that’s designed to push the limits of what the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 can deliver in terms of graphics.

No details have been offered on the project and the company has already said that it is not linked to any of the demos that it offered for its latest tech.

The title will probably only be officially revealed once Fortnite, another title that uses the Unreal Engine 4, is launched.

The executive also challenges the idea that Epic Games is no longer interested in game development and that it could become a company focused only on the creation of new technology.

He tells Edge that, “At any time there are over 100 engineers working on the Unreal Engine and there are more than 100 developers worldwide at Epic contributing to our games, so they’re really inseparable – the engine is based on the feedback from our game development processes.”

Unreal Engine 4 is offered to developers using a new subscription model and the company has just delivered a major update to the code which opens up more options for teams that use it.
