Film production company Lionsgate, eSports organization Major League Gaming and streaming service Twitch announce that they are collaborating to launch a Starcraft 2 tournament that's designed to celebrate the science fiction movie Ender's Game.

The competition will start on February 5 and the prize pool is evaluated at 20,000 dollars (16,000 Euro).

Two qualifying rounds between 32 players will first take place and then the grand final will be held on February 22.

Anne Parducci, executive vice president of marketing at Lionsgate, is quoted by VG247 as saying that, "The skills used to develop battle leaders in Ender’s Game are drawn from real world gaming, especially the types of skills used by premier tournament level players."

Ender's Game is a science fiction movie that stars youngsters with impressive strategic skills and it makes sense for the production company to try to associate itself with Starcraft 2, the most important title of the genre.
