Playing a lot of Cities: Skylines from Colossal Order

There are times when I long for the days when I was able to spend entire weeks after school playing just one video game, like the long summer between college years when Baldur's Gate 2 seemed to occupy every bit of my free time.

Unfortunately, the modern gaming industry insists on launching solid titles almost every week (just take a look back at the month of March, which is supposedly a slow one) and that means there are times when a 7-day period is all a game has.

Cities: Skylines is the title that currently has a chance of breaking records by occupying two weekends in a row for me, as long as I can get out of a few social engagements that stand in the way of my ability to create efficient transport networks and plenty of opportunities for my citizens.

The Colossal Order title is not perfect by any measure, but it is honest and engaging in a way that no other member of the city building genre has managed to be recently.

What I appreciate the most about the experience is that it is relatively easy to fail, but the mechanics make it relatively easy to see what went wrong and how the problem might be remedied in the next attempt.
