Playing Mass Effect 2 and 3 and Victoria II - A House Divided

Andrei Dumitrescu: Next week is the launch window for Mass Effect 3, the action and role-playing mix created by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts, and that means that I will re-install the previous game in the series and play most if not all the downloadable content that was launched for it.

I twice played the core single-player campaign through, from end to end, and enjoyed it immensely, planet scanning and all, but never got around to the DLC.

I will start with the Shadow Broker content, which has been almost universally praised, and see whether the rest, including new character Katsumi, will add anything to the game and will make me care more about my team.

I also plan to spend more time with Victoria II: A House Divided from Paradox Interactive, mainly trying to make Germany whole again using Prussia, and will also dabble a little more in the multiplayer side of the Mass Effect 3 demo.

Andrei Dobra: I’m counting down the days until Mass Effect 3’s release, so this weekend is going to see me experience some of the other classes in the multiplayer mode present in the game’s demo.

I’ve already taken my Human Engineer to the maximum level 20, while my Drell Vanguard and Salarian Infiltrator are hot on his heels.

While I was reticent about the cooperative Galaxy at War mode in Mass Effect 3, I have to admit that the recent demo convinced me that this is one of the greatest additions to the series up until now.

There are certainly plenty of balancing issues that need to be addressed, as well as some tweaks to the unlocking mechanics but, overall, if you still haven’t tried out Galaxy at War, I wholeheartedly recommend it this weekend, as it will go offline before the release of the full game.
