Playing Europa Universalis IV and Game of Thrones

It might be an unlucky day today, but I am happy to spend it playing more of the new Common Sense expansion for Europa Universalis IV, which was introduced earlier in the week and delivers a range of major changes for the core title.

Paradox Interactive has become known for its ability to deliver complex grand strategy titles, although they have also found success with experiences like Cities: Skylines and Magicka 2.

Common Sense comes with a large array of tweaks and new mechanics, and I have been playing as my favorite nation, Bohemia, trying to find new ways to dominate the Holy Roman Empire and to become the main power in Central Europe.

Europa Universalis IV is a game about careful use of limited resources, and I tend to focus on the development of a solid administrative system while trying not to fall behind when it comes to the military and making limited investments in trade only when I absolutely need to.

Sometimes grand strategy can become a drain on resources, and that's when I will move to play a little more of Game of Thrones Ascent, which was recently upgraded with a Tales system that manages to capture the frantic and unpredictable nature of the fantasy franchise.
