The footage is created using in-game and pre-rendered images

The development team at Frontier Developments is delivering a new video for Elite: Dangerous, which shows off some of the capital ship battle mechanics that will be included in the final version of the game.

The images are pretty impressive and the team has used them to select the composer that will create the soundtrack of the space sim, with Erasmus Talbot getting selected for the position.

Some fans have questioned whether the video is created using in-engine footage or pre-rendered elements.

Michael Brookes, a senior producer working on Elite: Dangerous, states, “It's a mixture of both. It's all captured in game, but there is some post processing and the cockpit is a mock-up (we're implementing it in-game as we speak).”

Elite: Dangerous was funded via a Kickstarter project and is set to launch on the PC next year, giving players the freedom to explore the universe and choose a career.
