Rich Hilleman, the chief creative director at publisher Electronic Arts, says that his company needs to bench a number of its franchises because it simply has too many video game series that it can work on.

He tells Rock, Paper, Shotgun that, “That’s a good problem, frankly. In the long term, we have to make sure we don’t kill those products by trying to do them when we can’t do them well.”

The executive is commenting on the recent announcement that the first-person shooter series Medal of Honor is no longer actively worked on, although the situation might change in the coming year.

Electronic Arts is continuing to work with developer DICE on the Battlefield franchise, which is set to get its fourth core installment for the next generation of consoles.
