Video game publisher Electronic Arts is confirming that it fired about 10 percent of its global staff during the fiscal year 2013, in an effort to restructure its core business and create a more efficient structure.

The figure was previously only rumored, but Blake Jorgensen, the chief financial officer at EA, confirmed the number during an investor call and stated that his company would have to pay about 16 million dollars (11 million Euro) as compensation.

The executive did not talk about the exact projects that were affected, but suggested that all big titles would be launched as scheduled.

Electronic Arts has announced a profit for fiscal year 2013 and the company says that SimCity, FIFA 13 and Battlefield 3 are the titles that performed well during the past 12 months.
