Matt Firor, the game director working on The Elder Scrolls Online, says that his company believes that monthly subscriptions are the best business model for the coming MMO, which is currently set to arrive on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

He tells Gamestar.de that, “Choosing the right business model is part of that. We are going with the subscription model for ESO.”

Firor says that making The Elder Scrolls Online free-to-play would have meant making sacrifices in terms of quality and depth of content.

Gamers will have to pay 14.99 dollars or 12.99 Euro or 8.99 British Pounds for 30 days of play, with one month included in the retail package.

Bethesda and ZeniMax Online will also offer a number of deals for those who want to be involved with The Elder Scrolls Online in the long term.
