Michael Pachter believes Capcom did the right thing by moving the launch date

Resident Evil 6 will be released much earlier than originally announced, with Capcom revealing recently that instead of November 20, fans will get their hands on the shooter on October 2.

This pretty major shift is due to the tough competition that will be present both in October and November, according to Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter.

The period right before the winter holiday season is usually stocked with high quality game releases and it seemed that Capcom’s Resident Evil 6 would face this head on with its late November release.

Now, seeing as how it will be out in early October, Pachter believes Capcom is trying to gain an advantage over its rivals.

“I'm sure it was for competitive reasons,” Pachter told CVG about the delay. “Although not the same genre, BioShock: Infinite is close to a horror-style game, and it's coming out mid-October. “I think the timing of holiday titles impacts their overall sales, and it's smart to be in front of competitive games."

Are you thrilled that Resident Evil 6 is coming out early or were you happy with the late November launch?
