Developer Danger Close and publisher Electronic Arts claim that the Frostbite 2 engine which powers Medal of Honor: Warfighter is the best technology for first-person shooters on the market.

An official blog post claims, “With the Frostbite 2 engine bringing extensive visual detail along with elaborate sound effects, you should be in for the most authentic action and fleshed out scenery, all within real locations from around the world.”

The statement comes after a number of players criticized the fact that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, the rival shooter from Treyarch and Activision, is powered by an old engine that is unable to use all the innovations that have been introduced in the last two years.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter will follow some of the characters introduced in the first game in the series as they try to battle terror on American soil.

The game will be launched on October 23 on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
