Video game developer CCP says that its multiplayer shooter Dust 514 is going into open beta stage on January 22, with players able to get the game and play it for free starting with that date.

Veigar Petursson, the leader of CCP, is quoted by VG247 as saying, “The launch of the Dust 514 Open Beta is another step towards our long-term vision for CCP and Eve.”

He adds, “As we have done with Eve Online, in the coming weeks, and for years to come, we will continually improve upon and add to the Dust 514 experience, as well as add deeper integration between the two games and their communities.”

CCP also says that those who are involved in the closed beta stage of the game will not have their stats reset.

Dust 514 still does not have an official launch date and will be only offered on the PlayStation 3.
