Battlefield 4 developer DICE has confirmed that it might employ DualShock 4's touchpad to throw grenades, but it emphasized that it still hadn't decided on how it was going to take advantage of the feature in the game's PlayStation 4 version.

The PlayStation 4 introduces a new controller, the DualShock 4, which features a special touchpad right in the center, allowing game developers to use it in different ways.

While it previously reported that the touchpad would be used by Battlefield 4 to access the Battlelog interface, DICE's Aleksander Grondal told OPM that the actual use hasn't been decided and that throwing grenades might be tied to the feature.

"We've experimented [with the touchpad], but haven't exactly nailed how we want it to behave just yet," he said. "Obviously flicking to throw a grenade is an option. There's a bunch of things we're testing out – we just haven't settled on anything."

Battlefield 4 will debut this month for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, and next month for PS4 and Xbox One.
