The free version might not even launch at all

Sony Europe CEO Jim Ryan doesn't comment on the possibility of even seeing a release for the promised Driveclub PS Plus version, saying only that its debut is "being looked at" internally, seemingly hinting that it might not even debut anytime soon, or at all.

Driveclub has had a turbulent life so far, being first revealed alongside the PS4 in early 2013, when the Sony console was presented to the world. It was supposed to appear onto the market as a launch-day game in November but got delayed indefinitely so that developer Evolution could deliver its social gaming promise.

It rolled out in October of last year but was immediately affected by online issues due to its overwhelmed servers. Now, the game is stable but the promised free Driveclub PS Plus version, that was supposed to be free for Plus subscribers, still isn't available.

While talking with Metro Game Central, Sony Europe boss Jim Ryan is indecisive about the whole subject.

"That’s still being looked at," he said about the Driveclub PS Plus Edition, adding that he "can’t say anything at this stage."

As such, it's quite possible that the game might not even be released at all, in order to avoid once again overloading the servers and disrupting the experience of those who paid in full for the PS4 game.
