Some new magazine scans show off Dragon Ball Xenoverse's character creation feature, the big surprise that developer Dimps revealed last week.

The fighting video game is currently in development for both old and new consoles, and developer Dimps revealed last week that the identity of the mysterious character featured in some of the released screenshots was something that nobody expected: a custom player-created character.

The new scans, revealed by Saiyan Island, showcase the character creation features, pointing to a wealth of customization options for gamers to enjoy, allowing gamers to create unique characters that suite their personality best.

Publisher Bandai Namco revealed that although the player-created character was not part of the Dragon Ball universe, it would still come with its own backstory. The mystery character comes from the future, and will alter many of the important events of the Dragon Ball canon.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse itself is not part of the canon, but instead based on a new universe, allowing gamers to enjoy a brand new storyline.

The fighting video game is currently in development for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms, and will be the first Dragon Ball game to hit next-gen platforms, sometime in 2015.
