The development team at BioWare Edmonton says that it will use the new Frostbite 3 engine on the upcoming Dragon Age 3, after the studio has also confirmed that the technology will be used on the upcoming Mass Effect.

Aaryn Flynn, the general manager working on the two games, says on Twitter that, “For everyone who's been asking after the #BF4 reveal, #DA3 and the next Mass Effect are also using Frostbite 3. It's awesome.”

When Dragon Age 3, which bears the Inquisition subtitle, was announced during 2012, BioWare stated that it would use the Frostbite 2 engine.

The switch to new technology might mean that the game will not make its original late 2013 launch title and might also move to the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox 720 from Microsoft.
