Sony has rolled out a brand new PS3 system software update, taking it to version 4.65 and delivering some minor stability improvements designed to make the whole console less prone to errors during the use of some features.

Sony hasn't had a great weekend, as due to a lot of DDoS attacks, its PlayStation Network online service went offline for lengthy periods of time, causing a lot of anger amongst PS3, PS4, or PS Vita owners.

Now, after getting the service operational once more and delaying the planned maintenance for a later time, Sony has rolled out a fresh firmware update for the PS3 home console, taking its system software version up to 4.65.

According to the official announcement on Twitter, the new update is an optional one, meaning you can still access the PlayStation Network or the PS Store without having to install it. However, it seems that it does improve the console's stability in certain situations.

"New PS3 system software 4.65 is a minor optional update that improves stability during the use of some features," Sony told its followers.

You can now download PS3 firmware update 4.65 via Softpedia. You can also automatically get it by accessing the console and connecting it to the internet.
