Microsoft has just released a brand new firmware update for the Xbox 360 console, bringing a slew of long-awaited features like the support for external storage up to 2TB in size, not to mention options to view purchase history, account balance, or to reset the password.

The Xbox 360 has been around for about 10 years and Microsoft has made an example of how the console evolved with system software updates, while receiving a myriad of fresh features and plenty of different games.

Even if the corporation is focusing on the Xbox One, it hasn't forgotten about the 360 and it has just released a fresh firmware update for the old console, bringing a few major features.

As mentioned a few weeks ago, support for external hard drives of up to 2TB in size is finally available for all Xbox 360 owners. This means that they can transfer downloaded games and files to the external storage with ease and use them from there.

Console owners will also spot a new option allowing them to view purchase history, account balance, and to reset their passwords, according to Microsoft Community Manager Larry Hryb on Twitter.

The new system software is available for download via Xbox Live worldwide.
