Sony has just made available the Gran Turismo 6 demo for the PlayStation 3 console via the PlayStation Store, allowing owners of the device to try out the upcoming game and, depending on their performance, get a shot at the 2013 edition of the GT Academy real-life racing program.

Gran Turismo 6, after quite a bit of teasing, was revealed to the world earlier this year and, since then, developer Polyphony Digital and publisher Sony have hyped up the racing simulator.

Now, ahead of the game's launch at the end of the year, a free demo has been made available for the PS3.

The trial, besides allowing fans to experience the new title, also doubles as a gateway into the Gran Turismo Academy program, which is organized by Sony in partnership with Nissan.

Depending on their performance inside the demo, players from specific countries will be invited to try out actual real-life racing and maybe even compete in famous competitions around the world.
