The video is a blast from the past, complete with the backwards baseball cap

Double Fine's quirky and offbeat roguelike Hack 'n' Slash has you playing by your own rules, as it has been underlined by its '90s-inspired trailer.

The game is like a Zelda game where you're redheaded, and, instead of going on tedious and boring adventures and risking your life on the battlefield, you simply use some 1337 h4xx0r sk1llz to make your way around the game.

In order to help the wait while the game goes live, and most probably inspired by the recent attempt to make a Shaq Fu sequel, going on as we speak on Indiegogo, Double Fine has decided to treat us all to a healthy helping of '90s nostalgia, complete with breakdancing and rapping, in the Hack 'n' Slash Early Access Launch trailer.

The game will become playable sometime soon, as an Early Access title on Steam, and the video also offers a glimpse of the actual gameplay. It sounds dope.

Hack 'n' Slash is also playable for the first time at this year's edition of the PAX East convention taking place this weekend in Boston, at the Double Fine booth 792. Keeping with the '90s trend, you'll probably hack the game by guessing one of the programmers' childhood nicknames.
