Video game developer Double Fine has filled a trademark in the United States for the name “The Cave,” which might be the chosen development label for the Kickstarter-funded video game that the company is now working on.

Double Fine has managed to raise more than 2.2 million dollars (1.63 million Euro) from more than 66,000 backers on Kickstarter.

The team will use the money to create an old-school two-dimensional adventure game.

Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert will collaborate on the game, but so far the team has not offered any clear details on the mechanics they plan to use.

Backers will be able to take part in the beta stage for the game at each stage of development, and they will also receive a DRM free copy of the game.

Whatever the used name, Double Fine plans to launch the Kickstarter game on the PC, the Mac, Linux, Android and iOS powered devices.
