Brad Muir, a project leader working on Massive Chalice at Double Fine, says that most video game publisher decision makers have little knowledge about what their audience wants to extract from an upcoming title.

The developer tells GamesIndustry.biz that, “It’s a very weird thing, taking your ideas to a small group of businessmen and having them tell you whether they think it’s going to sell or not.”

Muir has tried to pitch a now canceled project called Brazen to a number of publishers and failed to attract their attention.

He is currently working on Massive Chalice, which is aiming to get funding from the fan community via Kickstarter.

This is the second time that Double Fine has used the crowd funding serves after successfully getting the resources it needed to create the old-school adventure called Broken Age.
