The Dota 2 Frostivus 2013 in-game event has been canceled a day after its announcement, as apparently Valve has something else much more intriguing in mind starring the Skeleton King, who is now unavailable inside the multiplayer game thanks to a new patch.

Dota 2's traditional Frostivus event hasn't exactly had a great life inside the game, as last year it was cancelled by the Greevils and replaced with Greevling.

This year, Frostivus was revealed yesterday and, despite Valve promising that "nothing could go wrong," the official page has been updated with an announcement saying that "By the decree of the only King that Matters: Frostivus is canceled ."

That king might be the Skeleton King, as through a new patch on Steam he is no longer available as a selectable character due to "pressing ceremonial reasons."

Expect to hear more about Dota 2's new winter event soon.
