The development team at Splash Damage and publisher Nexon announce that their long-in-development Dirty Bomb title is set to be launched exclusively on the Steam digital distribution service from Valve, with the title moving into a closed beta phase.

The title is a first-person shooter built around classes which takes place in a future version of London that is partially destroyed and features teams of mercenaries to try and control locations and gain access to rewards.

Splash Damage describes Dirty Bomb as a classic experience where player skill is crucial and says that the entire experience is designed to allow players to find one class which suits their playing style.

Nexon and Valve are announcing that the move to Steam is designed to improve the core experience, with the game now offering dedicated servers, chat solutions and player parties.

At the same time, the two companies will be delivering more features using the Steamworks concept.

All those interested in taking part in the Dirty Bomb closed beta stage can register on the official site.

Splash Damage has experience with the genre after working on Brink and on the multiplayer side of Batman: Arkham Origins.

Nexon has big plans for the shooter space and it is also working with the Cliff Bleszinski-led Boss Key Productions on its innovative new title.
