Yui Tanimura, the director working on Dark Souls 2 at From Software, says that the next game in the series will be accessible to a wider array of players but will in no way be easier to get through than its predecessor.

He explains what changes the developers will implement by telling Game Informer that, “There were things that were a little bit time consuming or a little bit tedious that we wanted to streamline.”

He says Dark Souls 2 will have none of the “fat” of the first game while offering the same core gameplay experiences.

The team has already promised an improved game engine, a more responsive control scheme and innovative designs for enemies.

Dark Souls 2 will be offered on the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 during March 2014.
