The development team at Blizzard is announcing that it will be resetting the ladder component of Diablo II on Tuesday, May 26, which means that the game might be down for maintenance for about six hours.

All ladder characters will be converted into non-ladder versions, with all other items and characteristics set to remain intact.

The official announcement from Blizzard states that the reset will introduce "a clean slate where all ladder characters begin at level 1 with no previous items to help them. To participate, simply wait until the Diablo II realms return to service on May 26, log in to Battle.net, and select the 'Ladder Character' checkbox when creating a new character."

Despite the fact that the third entry in the series is the one played by most fans at the moment, it seems that Diablo II still has a big enough audience to get constant support from the development team.

For the newer experience, Blizzard has been recently focusing on the Season mode, which allows players to compete for extended periods of time in order to try and get access to unique rewards.

The studio already has a list of game tweaks that it plans to deploy, but most of them will have to wait until Season 3 is done, which might take another few months.
