Activision Blizzard has just confirmed that one of its most popular releases of last year, Diablo 3, managed to sell over 12 million copies worldwide on the PC and Mac.

Diablo III was eagerly awaited by millions of fans from around the world, as many wanted to see if developer Blizzard can create a worthy successor to the classic role-playing dungeon crawler series.

While the end result received mixed reactions and was plagued by quite a few problems, millions of gamers flocked to it on the PC and Mac platforms.

After confirming back in November that around 10 million copies were sold, Activision Blizzard has now revealed, via CVG, that over 12 million copies have been purchased by gamers worldwide as of December 31, 2012.

These impressive figures make Diablo 3 the best-selling PC game at retail in 2012, according to the large publisher.
