Although third-person shooter Devil's Third was officially announced back in June 2010, there hasn't been any news about it since. The game is supposed to be Tomonobu Itagaki-led Valhalla Game Studios' first release.

Prestigious Japanese magazine Famitsu featured an interview with Itagaki, during which he confirmed that the game was still under development. Itagaki is best known for his work on popular series Dead or Alive, and the reinvention of the Ninja Gaiden franchise.

“The game itself is pretty well along in development. I'm building upon the context I've created up to now to provide gameplay that will really surprise people. I'm not sure there's really a game like this on consoles, and I'd like fans to know that I'm definitely building this up Itagaki-style," the acclaimed video game designer stated, as cited by Polygon.

He went on to add that the team is negotiating with publishers, although he didn't specify any names, and that the game wasn't previewed during the E3 conference because he felt “it wasn't the timing for that” yet.
