Trion has announced the implementation of some much-wanted changes for their MMO Defiance, coming with the release of the 7th Legion DLC, planned to arrive in February.

The latest Defiance developer blog details that the area that was featured the most in community feedback was the chat interface, and now they plan to completely overhaul it in order to deliver a more streamlined and useful experience.

The old chat interface used to feel “frustrating and clunky while in the heat of battle,” and the new one will provide a sleeker and more useful chat functionality, removing the emotes and commands that used to cover the screen in the past.

Voice chat and text chat channels have also been separated, and the voice channel the player is speaking in is clearly indicated and can be easily swapped, and now channels that other people speak in will light up, in order to make it easier to trace voices.

Trion mentioned that the changes would not be the only improvements that will come to Defiance, and that more steps are being taken toward improving its quality and ease-of-use, with more details to come.
