Yoshinori Ono, a video game producer working for publisher Capcom, says that his company revealed Deep Down during the PlayStation 4 event in New York in order to avoid the expectations that are linked to already existing franchises like Final Fantasy or Street Fighter.

The developer tells MCV that “We wanted to be free to utilize the PS4′s hardware capabilities and unique services without the constraints of working within an existing IP.”

Deep Down will allow Capcom to gain experience working with the PlayStation 4 and then translate it in higher quality for other games.

Deep Down is a fantasy experience that seems to use elements taken from Monster Hunter and from the Dark Souls series.

Capcom also talked during the PlayStation 4 reveal about a new Final Fantasy video game that will be shown during E3 2013.
