Dean Hall, aka Rocket, the creator of the DayZ mod and the main developer working on the standalone title with the same name, announces that he is leaving the Bohemia Interactive team and that he will no longer work on his two games.

The game maker plans to establish a new studio and try to create a better multiplayer experience, although no details are yet offered on its core mechanics.

He tells Eurogamer that, "I feel like DayZ is a fundamentally flawed concept and I’ve always recognized that. It’s not the perfect game; it’s not the multiplayer experience, and it never can be, the absolute spark that I want in it."

Bohemia Interactive says that it is aware of Dean Hall’s plans and has clear ideas on how to continue development on the standalone version of DayZ, which is at the moment offered via Steam on the Early Access service.
