The development team working on the Elite service at publisher Activision says that all those Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 players who have activated their accounts on launch day will be able to get access to extra three months of service.

It seems that the company is keen to apologize for the problems that Elite has faced in late 2011 when it was first launched.

Initially, the free service period was supposed to be just one month, but it has since been extended.

All Elite services are set to become free for those who get access to the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

The game will be launched on November 13 on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

The new game features a re-designed multiplayer mode and better support for player interactions.
