Video game publisher Electronic Arts announces that it is working on a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena title called Dawngate, which is set to use core features of the genre and might be launched later in 2013.

The game is designed to rival League of Legends from Riot Games and Valve’s DOTA 2.

Gamers who are interested can sign up for a beta stage of Dawngate, although it is not yet clear when it might be launched.

Development is handled by Waystone Games.

Electronic Arts has another MOBA game in the works at Visceral Games, the team that created Dead Space.

Dawngate is designed to appeal to fans of the genre and uses graphics and mechanics that will be familiar to all players.

Electronic Arts says that the defining characteristic of the new MOBA will be a continuously evolving story.
