Kadokawa Shoten is a giant Japanese corporation that deals mainly in publishing, spanning everything from manga to video games, and according to their latest earning report, they have just bought the majority of Dark Souls 2 developer From Software's stock.

The news transpired earlier today, when the corporation held its latest earning report, in Tokyo, announcing that From Software was turned into a wholly owned subsidiary of the group.

The company also shared some of the future plans to follow the merger, stating that they intended to expand both From Software and Kadokawa Games' business and market positioning by taking advantage of the two companies' area of expertise through a cooperation and synergy strategy.

The company also wants to make use of both companies' development and planning resources to produce new IP, using their combined strength and keeping an eye on new game platforms and the overseas market, where they expect to achieve substantial growth.

The cooperation between Natural Doctrine developer Kadokawa Games and Dark Souls 2 developer From Software is expected to spark an era of aggressive expansion in the digital field of the global market, and the purchase of From Software's stock was deemed to be the best way to achieve the goal.
