Dark Souls 2: Crown of the Sunken King is set to be the first downloadable expansion for the massive role-playing game made by From Software, and now a big batch of screenshots has appeared online, showing off the fresh environments in the DLC.

Dark Souls 2 launched this spring and delivered some pretty impressive RPG action that not only brought forth a big world and plenty of adventures, but once again emphasized the challenging and unforgiving nature of the series made by From Software.

While the game easily offered lots of hours of entertainment, the Japanese studio quickly confirmed that it was going to debut a three-part expansion series, starting with Crown of the Sunken King.

The new add-on promises to deliver fresh environments, plenty of new loot, not to mention a huge amount of enemies that will protect the aforementioned loot from the players.

In order to hype things up ahead of the DLC's release next week, a set of images has appeared online, via AGB, showing off the many new areas that are included in the add-on.

From massive caverns to pyramids, giant waterfalls, and plenty of old temples, there are certainly quite a lot of new environments to explore.

Dark Souls 2: Crown of the Sunken King launches on July 22 across PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Two more DLC packs will follow later this year.
