Lars Gustavsson, the creative director working at DICE, says that he believes the future of gaming is linked to AAA titles like Battlefield 4, but also to smaller indie games, and to the recent OS and hardware initiatives coming from Valve.

He tells CVG that, “a couple of years ago indie games were fading out and it seemed that only the big studios would survive. Then suddenly they exploded - arcade, indie developers, mobile games - and now with Valve's initiative it's extremely healthy and there's a lot of competition.”

The developer also says that any claims that the PC is dying are exaggerated and do not reflect the reality that developers are dealing with.

Battlefield 4 is designed to offer the same experience on all platforms on which it is launched, but DICE has revealed that the PC version of the game will look better than those launched on current-gen consoles.

The shooter will also be offered on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.
