The title could not have existed as a PC exclusive

Cevat Yerli, the chief executive officer of development studio Crytek, says that his recently launched Crysis 3 is designed for consoles because the company could not get the resources required to launch it exclusively on the PC.

He tells Gamasutra that “People have to understand that this is a journey of give and take.”

The executive also acknowledges that a PC-only version of Crysis 3 could have been more demanding on systems and might have included bigger battle spaces.

When the game was launched, many fans of the first title in the franchise complained that it failed to capture its open nature and forces players down narrow paths.

They blame the limited console architecture and memory limitations for the choices that Crytek made.

Crytek has suggested that it is already preparing free-to-play titles for next-gen consoles.
