Criterion Games Creative Director Alex Ward has confirmed that the studio is working on something completely new that isn't an installment in the Need for Speed or Burnout franchises, despite recent rumors.

Criterion Games impressed many racing fans with Need for Speed: Most Wanted last year and new rumors soon appeared that hinted at either a new Burnout racing game or a remake of Need for Speed: Underground.

After dismantling the NFS: Underground remake rumor last week, Criterion Creative Director Alex Ward writes on Twitter that the studio isn't working on games in the Need for Speed or Burnout franchises.

According to Ward, "After over a decade of making racing games it's time to make something new."

The Criterion executive mentions that the project is still in the early stages so he can't share anything concrete with fans until the time is right.
