The rebooted Command & Conquer was officially canceled a few weeks ago by publisher Electronic Arts and developer Victory Games has been disbanded, but fans of the series might get a complete title from another team.
A support statement on the official support site of the company reads, “For those of you who bought The C&C Ultimate Collection, your early access to the beta will be honored once production of this title resumes under a new studio.”
Electronic Arts has not offered any comment on the suggestion that it still has long-term plans for Command & Conquer, according to BluesNews.
The new version of the game, which was supposed to be launched as a free-to-play title, was canceled because it failed to impress those gamers who were part of the alpha stage.
Command & Conquer was a long-running strategy franchise that redefined the limits of the genre, but its mechanics have failed to keep up with recent innovations.
