The new game from Mojang, the company led by Marcus Persson, aka Notch, will be called Cobalt and will be launched exclusively on the new Xbox One from Microsoft and on the already available 360.

The announcement was made during the special event that the company held at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany and was confirmed by Major Nelson.

Just a glimpse of the gameplay of Cobalt was shown and the title seems to be focused on multiplayer and will have a rather retro look.

It’s unclear whether the game is only offered through Xbox Live or whether Microsoft and Mojang have plans to also deliver it via retail.

Recently, Notch has announced that he suspended development on 0x10c, a space simulator that was supposed to include a fully programmable computer.

Cobalt is a direct result of the big sales success of the Minecraft version that was launched on the Xbox 360.
