With Civilization: Beyond Earth set to launch before the end of next week, the development team at Firaxis is offering more details about the way the end game of the turn-based strategy title will play out, with more details about how gamers can shape their nation as they aim to dominate the alien planet.

A Twitch stream from the developers features close to one full hour of gameplay, with the action starting around the 17-minute mark, and explains the variety of options that players will have to choose from as they seek to customize their experience.

Civilization: Beyond Earth is designed to create a complex interplay between the tech choices, which are now offered via a web, the overall vision of the future for each faction, and how it interacts with the actual planet and its native species.

The core mechanics of the series are still present, including the one military unit per hex concept, but Firaxis says that it wants to capture the spirit of classic science fiction universes while also introducing a new set of challenges that will surprise even veterans of the series.

Civilization: Beyond Earth will be only offered on the PC and those who pre-order it will get six extra maps for the title.
