A brand new trailer for Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth has popped up on the Internet, delivering 7 minutes of gameplay and commentary, showcasing many of the turn-based strategy game's features.

The video explains how many of the colony functions are implemented, highlighting how the Purity Affinity allows the human colony to manipulate and sometimes completely alter the environment of the alien planet in order to accommodate Earth life.

The trailer also offers a glimpse of the Orbital Layer and its impact on gameplay, as well as some of the Virtues that players will be able to take advantage of, divided into tiered trees, following the Might, Prosperity, Knowledge and Industry paradigms, and bestowing various bonuses that will shape the evolution of your chosen faction.

In addition to this, the new video also shows a deadly battle between one of the largest indigenous creatures, the seaborne Kraken, as well as a war declaration against an opposing faction, of a different Affinity.

Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth is scheduled to come out on October 24 for Windows PC, with the Mac and Linux versions currently postponed to a later, unannounced date, and pre-orders for the game are already live, netting early adopters a new planet pack, inspired by some of our nearest real-life neighbors in the Universe.
