Sources from video game retailers have stated that publisher Capcom has shipped 420,000 copies to stores in preparation for the launch of the Nintendo 3DS version of Monster Hunter 3G, which is set to arrive on December 10.

100,000 of those are linked to bundles that also include the Slide Pad add-on while another 20,000 of them will be included in packages which also include a full handheld.

Retailers are saying that demand from players will probably exceed this initial shipment and that Capcom will quickly have to get more games to the market in order to satisfy demand before the end of the year.

The same game managed to sell more than 4 million units on the Sony made PlayStation Portable before the publisher introduced a budget version and the PlayStation 3 High Definition graphics release also sold more than 287,000 units.

On the Nintendo Wii Monster Hunter Tri sold more than 800,000 copies.

The game does not yet have a date for Western launch.
