The GameSpy online service will shut down on May 31, ending the online activity of many games which have licensed it over the years. The closure of GameSpy will affect a wide array of titles from all across the industry, and Capcom decided to post an update regarding some of its games.

The news comes from the Capcom Unity blog, pointing out the fact that some titles have already migrated to other similar services in order to continue supporting their online functionality, while others will sadly no longer be a part of the Internet.

As such, Marvel vs. Capcom Origins and Street Fighter 3: Third Strike Online Edition have already migrated to alternative services, and there will be no issues affecting them when GameSpy shuts down.

In addition to this, Lost Planet on the PC and PlayStation 3 has also begun the migration to another service, and Capcom is not expecting gamers to experience any downtime. The only problem is that, due to the switching of servers, the current player stats and leaderboards will be reset. The Xbox 360 version of the game will be unaffected.

The bad news is that some of Capcom's games, such as Age of Booty and Flock!, will lose online functionality, as the company has no plans to update them.
